Funerals & Memorial Services

Funerals and Memorial Services

What to expect from a Funeral, Memorial or Celebration of Life at Bracebridge United Church

When a loved one dies, it is often a time of grief, stress and difficult decisions. Our task is to help ease the burden of the many decisions you will be asked to make.

Reverend Taylor will meet with you to discuss what type of service you would like and to guide you through the planning process. This meeting typically takes from one hour to an hour and a half and may be at the church or a location of your choosing.

During this meeting she will ask you questions about your loved one in order to learn about them through your memories. This will help her to create a service that truly honours the loved one and begins the healing process.

There are a number of questions that will guide what the service includes. These are listed below:

·        Do you wish to have any specific hymns or songs included?

·        Is there music that you wish our music director or choir to provide?

·        Are there special readings you want included?

·        Do you want the service to include any pictures or video?

·        Would you like the service to be recorded?

·        Are there memorabilia you want displayed?

·        Do you want an order of service bulletin printed?

·        Do you wish to have a catered reception after the service?

After this meeting, Reverend Taylor will arrange a service that reflects your preferences. You may always contact her if you have further questions.

On the day of the service, there will be reserved parking available for you, and a quiet area in our upstairs parlour for members of the family to gather privately before the service.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the church office:
